Shift Patterns for Maximum Productivity

Post by Engineer Alexei Romanov »

Working in the grid engineering department has its challenges, especially managing shifts that can be quite demanding. I’ve found a shift pattern that really helps maintain productivity and morale—rotating 12-hour shifts with a mandatory mid-shift break.

During our standard shifts, we have a morning crew from 6 AM to 6 PM and an evening crew from 6 PM to 6 AM the next day. We ensure everyone gets at least one mid-day off per week for a full eight hours. This not only helps in keeping fatigue at bay but also promotes work-life balance.

Another trick is implementing regular team check-ins every Monday morning over coffee. These brief catch-ups help align goals, address any concerns, and boost team spirit. Plus, it’s a great way to share tips on handling the latest software updates or tricky maintenance issues that cropped up over the weekend.

Hope this helps!
