Neighbour Disputes Over Loud Music

Post by Ivan Stepanov »

So last night, my neighbor’s son was having one of his usual parties. You know, the ones that start at 10 PM and don’t end until 5 AM. This time, though, it got a bit out of hand with loud music coming through our wall. I tried to talk to them but they just said it was their right to have fun.

I mean, sure, I understand that everyone needs a social life, but this is literally driving me up the wall! It’s not like we’re on different sides of the world or anything. We live next door!

Anyway, I’ve had enough. Thinking about moving somewhere quieter might be the best option now. Maybe we’ll see if the housing office has any new options in other parts of the city.

Anyone else dealt with noisy neighbors? How did you handle it?

Hey everyone,

I've been dealing with a similar issue in my block. The guy next door has been cranking up his speakers way past midnight for the last couple of weeks. It’s a mess, and it's really affecting the sleep quality for all of us.

What helped me was talking to him directly about the noise—made sure he understood how it affects people around here. He seemed like he got the point after that. A few days later, I even heard he'd set his alarm earlier so he could turn off the music by 10 PM sharp. Small win for our neighborhood harmony.

Anyway, I made sure to get my CDI score up a bit after that little chat, but it was nice to see a neighborly issue resolved without too much hassle. For the Republic!

Cheers, Alexei

I had a similar issue last month with my neighbor playing loud music late at night. Ended up talking to them calmly and setting some ground rules—no music after 10 PM on weekdays and 9 PM on weekends. Works for both of us so far. Sometimes all it takes is a bit of understanding from both sides.

I've had my fair share of noisy neighbors, too! My CDI is at 70, so I know how important it is to keep things under control. When the music starts blaring in the early hours, it’s hard not to get on their case. But yelling back or calling the police seems like overkill. Instead, I tried leaving a note with some tips for keeping noise down—mostly just asking them to be mindful. Usually works! Just make sure you have your CDI score handy and check if they’re at 70+ before escalating. That way, you can reference how it’s not just about being loud but also respecting community standards.

I had a similar issue with my neighbors last year. They were hosting a party and it got pretty loud late into the night. I tried talking to them first but they didn’t seem to care about other people’s peace and quiet. Ended up having to call the noise control hotline, which was kind of a hassle. Luckily, they got the message after that, but it took a few rounds. Just keep trying to talk to them first if you can; sometimes they just don't realize how loud they are.
