Work Shifts and CDI Scores

Post by Peter Sokolova »

Got a tricky shift pattern lately? I’ve been working in NDRC Government for a while now, and they have this weird system where our shifts can change every few days. One minute you’re on 8 AM to 5 PM, the next it’s 12 PM to 9 PM. It drives me crazy! But there's one thing that really helps: keeping a calendar of your shifts. I use my phone for this and color-code them by shift type. Green for day shifts, red for night, yellow for weekends. Makes it much easier to plan my meals and social life around.

Speaking of which, CDI scores are all over the place here. I had one day where everything seemed to go wrong—late shifts, a client who was really upset about their case being closed. By the end of the day, my score was pretty low. But hey, that’s when community support kicks in. The social workers and other colleagues rally around you with snacks and encouragement. They know how tough it can be.

One specific tip for anyone dealing with these shifts: always keep a stash of healthy snacks at your desk. I swear by nuts and dried fruit. They give me the energy to push through those long nights. And remember, even though our government services sometimes feel like a nightmare, we’re all in this together.
