Workplace Tip: How to Stay Focused During Long Shifts

Got a 10-hour shift ahead and feeling like you're going to fall asleep at your desk? Here's what I do.
First thing in the morning, I make sure to have a good breakfast. A plate of eggs, bacon, and toast with some coffee hits the spot. Gives me that boost I need to keep going. Plus, it’s easier to focus when you're not worrying about your stomach growling!
Also, I find that taking short breaks every hour really helps. Just get up for a few minutes, stretch, or grab another cup of coffee. It's like giving yourself permission to take a mini-vacation from the work, and by the time you sit back down, you feel refreshed.
Another trick is to use music. I have a playlist with some classical tunes that keep me alert without being distracting. Maybe it’s just me, but I find it helps block out those other noises in the background.
Lastly, try to set small goals for yourself. For instance, resolve to finish this report by lunch or organize your desk before you go home. Having something concrete to aim for keeps your mind engaged and prevents that drowsiness from setting in.
Hope these tips help! For the Republic!
