Shift Scheduling Hack

Got a tricky shift pattern at work? Here’s how I manage it to keep my CDI score in check and stay productive.
So, as you might know, the NDRC has this weird habit of changing shifts like the weather. One day you’re working first, next day last, then suddenly there's an extra shift thrown into your schedule. For me at Agricultural Collective #14, it’s all about keeping a steady hand on the rudder.
What I do is create a flexible plan that accommodates any shift change. I keep a spreadsheet tracking my shifts and use color coding—green for manageable days, yellow for tricky ones, and red for emergencies. This way, I can see at a glance what I’m up against. Plus, it helps me balance my CDI score and make sure I stay ahead of the game.
Another trick is to block off time for essential tasks like vet visits or emergency calls. By setting aside specific hours for these, you avoid being pulled into unexpected overtime and keep your schedule manageable. It’s all about finding that balance between work and life in this crazy system we have here.
What shift schedules are you dealing with? Got any hacks to share?
