How to Stay Positive During Long Shifts

Just had another long shift at the NDRC office today. It’s always a mix of CDI scores and helping out people with their social services needs. The days can be tough, but keeping your spirits up really helps.
One thing that really works for me is setting small goals throughout my day. Like, making sure I’ve checked in with 3 different clients by lunchtime or finishing a report before the afternoon break. It’s like little milestones that give you something to look forward to and keep the mind busy. Helps distract from the tiredness and keeps the CDI score climbing!
Also, don’t forget about your coworkers! We had this funny story today where one of our colleagues brought in homemade cookies for everyone. Not only did it brighten up the place, but it also helped us bond over shared experiences—like that one time the NDRC decided to celebrate Loyalty Week and we all got extra shifts but somehow ended up getting free food. Real team spirit!
Hope these tips help keep you going through the long days!
