Housing Allocation Frustrations

Just got an allocation notice from the Housing Bureau and I’m pulling my hair out over it. The place they’re putting me is like living in a tin can with no sunlight—basically, it’s a tiny studio on the 9th floor of some old block that looks like it’s about to collapse. And you know what? It’s not even near my workplace! Had to take the bus an extra half-hour just to get there now.
I tried going through the usual channels but nothing seems to work. The bureaucrats are as stiff as ever, and they just tell me to be patient. I’ve heard from others that this is a common issue—people getting stuck in places they don’t want or need. What’s the point of all those fancy CDI scores if it’s just going to get you a crappy apartment?
On top of that, my old place is still undergoing maintenance and I’m supposed to move before it’s fixed. They haven’t given me an estimate on when things will be back to normal, which is frustrating because I can’t really do much about the leak in the kitchen or how noisy the neighbors are.
Need some advice on how to handle this situation better. Any tips would be appreciated.
